I found (Karl) Vande Hey on this website. He and his company are fabulous, do EXCEPTIONAL WORKMANSHIP and I couldn't be happier! He totally transformed my kitchen, etc beyond my wildest dreams! I found Karl through Houzz.com and am so thankful I did and that he took on my project. I ended up in a bad place when another cabinet provider walked off the job. Karl successfully came in and finished the work and made it even better than what was originally planned. For my particular situation he ended up refinishing almost all my cabinets due to the poor work done by the other company. He was able to custom make missing pieces and put everything back together. They ended up looking amazing!! I had contacted several other places who said I would need to scrap everything and start over. Karl and his crew really saved me. After the cabinetry was mostly finished I had him add some extra work such as a banquette bench and shiplap wood to a ceiling and wall. It really gave my home a more customized look. I started remodeling my 'new to me' house last June. I wasted a lot of money and time with several kitchen and cabinet designers; unfortunately none of the plans they came up with could even meet my minimum expectation. In 3 months, as promised Karl provided me a fabulous custom made kitchen that implements my vision, with some brilliant features that never occurred to me before. We had great results with Karl in a significant project in 2008 - entire re-do of kitchen cabinets, downstairs bath cabinets, and hallway storage. So we brought him back for round two in 2014 - entire re-do of guest and master bath cabinets (including adding a custom-designed "locker" in the master), plus amazing work on a large "barn door" dividing seating and sleep areas of master bedroom. Careful, meticulous work. Patient listener who actually pays attention to our ideas - but will respectfully chime in with his own thoughts, and we quickly learned it was worth our while to listen! I described in general terms the "locker" concept I was looking for but didn't know how to design - Karl quickly came back with spot-on drawings. Pricing was reasonable (and we did collect a few quotes for comparison purposes) - we felt it was a bargain relative to quality. It takes a lot of patience to work with us - requires repeated return visits to adjust things that frankly were rather insignificant - Karl's follow-up was as good as the initial work. We have worked with Karl on different projects for the past 20 years and wouldn't think of using anyone else. His work is amazing with beautiful finishes and high quality materials. There is no comparison between the cabinets he has made for us and the ones that have come in even the high end tract homes we have lived in. Having the ability to customize your cabinetry to the exact specifications you want makes a huge difference in the end product. We are currently working with him on a vacation home and his price was no more than the big box store that our builder wanted us to use. His prices have always been well within reason for custom cabinets. If I have one small criticism, and I do mean small, it is that he is not always done with the install on time.
